In August and September 2006, Defenders' volunteers joined biologists in an overnight spotlight survey to count and "tag" black-footed ferrets that had been released in the will as part of federal efforts to recover this incredibly endangered species.
The information they collected confirmed that the captive-bred ferrets which had been released were not only surviving, but some were even reproducing in the wild!
