Lisa Hummon
New Mexico Outreach Representative
Areas of expertise: Grassroots organizing, conservation issues
Lisa is the New Mexico organizer on Defenders’ national outreach team. She works across the state with diverse grassroots constituencies and the media to increase public support for wildlife conservation and to mobilize citizen advocates. Lisa joined Defenders as an intern in the Washington D.C. office in 2001, and continued her work with Defenders, joining the Lands, Economics, and Science division in 2002 before moving to New Mexico in 2005 to start Defenders outreach work in the state.
Lisa is a member of the Natural Resources Conservation Service’s State Technical Committee in New Mexico. She co-authors a bi-monthly electronic publication for Defenders called Rural UPdates! and also recently completed Al Gore’s training to be a certified presenter for his movie, An Inconvenient Truth.
Lisa earned her bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science and Policy from the University of Maryland.
