Areas of expertise: Predator conflict avoidance and compensation programs; Mexican wolves; ecotourism; packing and outfitting, biological surveys, radio-telemetry, horsemanship
Cynthia is currently establishing a program in the Blue Range Mexican Wolf Recovery Area to work with ranchers to reduce wolf-caused mortality of livestock through the development of proactive management practices that are beneficial to all. The Blue Range Recovery Area includes the Gila and Apache National Forests in New Mexico and the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest and White Mountain and San Carlos tribal lands in Arizona.
Cynthia has worked as a wildlife field biologist throughout the western United States with such species as grizzly bears, black-footed ferrets, southwestern willow flycatchers, elk and jaguars. She has also worked for the US Forest Service and the National Park Service as a backcountry ranger. She has worked for outfitters and guides doing everything from running sled dog tours to leading backcountry pack trips into the remote wilderness. She owns and operates her own outfitting and guide business.
