Online Marketing and Communications Coordinator
Location: Washington, D.C.Supervisor: Vice President for Online Marketing and Communications
Position Description
The Online Marketing and Communications Coordinator coordinates the Online Marketing and Communications team’s daily activities, including Website, marketing, and online outreach campaigns in a fast-paced and innovative environment. The Coordinator helps manage our Wildlife Adoption Center (www.WildlifeAdoption.org), social networking Websites (such as Facebook, MySpace, YouTube and other profiles) and promotional campaigns.

e-supporters and several high-traffic Websites, Defenders is an industry leader
in online fundraising, advocacy, and education. This is an excellent opportunity to get
hands-on experience with Websites, online marketing, and online outreach
campaigns in a fast-paced and innovative environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Wildlife Adoption Center (www.WildlifeAdoption.org):
- Manage administrative aspects including product management, ordering, and inventory tracking
- Manage Adoption Center strategy/design timeline
- Help develop marketing strategy and marketing ideas for Adoption Center
- Project manage various elements of Adoption Center marketing strategy, such as working with vendors to develop Adoption Center flyers and other marketing materials
- Coordinate activities with various vendors to ensure that promotions are coordinated and deadlines are met Conduct new and competitive research
Online
Campaigns:
- Assist in developing, strategizing, and managing Google AdWords and other ad words campaigns
- Assist in maintaining and cultivating Defenders’ online communities, including approving friends and monitoring comments on social networking sites (e.g., MySpace.com and Care2.com), writing and posting action items and blog entries, etc. Assist with copywriting and editing for e-mail campaigns and Websites as appropriate
General/Administrative:
- Schedule and coordinate meetings for Online department
- Conduct special projects (e.g., helping produce Web pages)
- Provide administrative support to the Vice President of Online Marketing and Communications, including managing expense reports, making travel arrangements, and organizing team events
Perform all other
related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent. B.A. in Marketing or related disciplineExperience: 1+ years of project management, administrative, and/or marketing experience, preferably in an environment where extensively using Internet Websites and technologies
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above. Ultimately, enthusiasm and the skill sets below are most important.

qualifications:
- Marketing experience, especially Internet marketing skills
- Project management experience
- Technical savvy including knowledge of Dreamweaver (or other Web editing software), HTML, Photoshop, and Convio
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project and Powerpoint
- Strong copy editing skills
- Knowledge of general conservation/environmental issues
